Dr. Babu Stephen says that instead of aiming at conventions, he would focus on gaining influence and power in American politics for the Malayalee community. Regular events and charitable activities will continue but the emphasis will be on activities that will strengthen the Malayalee community and bring it into the mainstream. Plans will be made to strengthen FOKANA at all levels and gain more public participation.

Dr. Stephen has never hesitated to help as many people as possible. In his first year as president of FOKANA, he plans to build 25 houses in the country. He has land in Amburi, Thiruvananthapuram and many other places which will be used for these purposes. The more sponsors we get, the more homes we will be able to build, he says. Many people have been already recruited from Kerala for the job.
FOKANA is now at the peak of its growth and glory. There is still a long way to go. With the announcement of Babu Stephen's candidacy to run for president, there are signs of change in FOKANA. The realization that this was the right time to implement the projects he had dreamed of and envisioned brought him closer to the electoral arena. The realization that Babu Stephen's leadership was possible began to spread widely among the member organizations in a short period of time. Even those who used to support Leela are now giving full support to Babu Stephen.
If you do business well, you can lead organizations like FOKANA outdoors. A good businessman can make money, influence, empathy, professionalism in designing and implementing projects, the ability to find other financial resources, and ensuring the participation of member organizations. Everyone knows he deserves it. Organizational work is not limited to holding conventions and lots of events and posing for photos. One needs to cater to the needs of the people and act accordingly
Dr. Babu Stephen, who has been a part of FOKANA for a long time, has also served on the Board of Directors of Washington D.C. for the past two terms as Regional Vice president. In Washington DC, it was among the 5 associations who came forward demanding that he run for president. As he began to see in them the beginnings of many of the things he had longed for, his passion for actively reaching out to FOKANA's leadership increased. The Malayalee community in DC who know him closely and who understand his talents and financial resources know that if he becomes FOKANA President, FOKANA will return to its former glory.
